The ocean comes to town
Singapore Marine Life Park is set to open at Resorts World Sentosa on December 7.
Billed as the world's largest oceanarium, the marine park will have more than 100,000 marine animals of 800 species swimming around in more than 60 million litres of water. Among these are manta rays, hammerhead sharks and controversial Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins.
Double daily in the double decker
Malaysia Airlines is set to introduce twice-daily Airbus A380 flights on its Kuala Lumpur-London route from November 24. Since the Airbus A380 service began operations on July 1, says the airline, customer response had been overwhelming. Following the success of current daily A380 operation on London route, the airline has decided to replace the existing B747 daily flights with the A380 to make it a double daily on the superjumbo.
Images on the island
The Fotografiska, one of the world's largest gathering places for fans of contemporary photography, in the Swedish capital Stockholm, can now be accessed using a new ferry link. The Waxholmsbolaget line plies daily from Slussen to the jetty at the handsome museum building overlooking the harbour, and the whole western side of Skeppsholmen island. Departures are every 30 minutes between 11am and 7pm. - DPA
Cruising with Barbie
The Royal Caribbean company is to offer cruises for young enthusiasts of the Barbie doll from next year, complete with cabins decked out with costumes, Barbie toiletries and bedding. Events on board include a Barbie party with a pink cake, dance sessions and a competition to design clothes for the doll. Billed as the "ultimate indulgence for Barbie enthusiasts", the package is available to passengers aged between four and 11 on selected cruises from January. The Barbie deal will be extended throughout the fleet of 22 vessels from March. - DPA
Lao Airlines introduces S Korea service
Lao Airlines will open new routes to the Republic of Korea and China as part of the airline’s expansion goals in response to growing market demand. Flights will operate from Vientiane to Seoul and Busan, with both sectors expected to begin service in December this year. A flight from Vientiane to Guangzhou in China is also planned, possibly as early as November. Laos' flag carrier will operate these flights on a 142-seat Airbus. - Vientiane Times/ANN
